March’s Playstation Instant Game Collection

This month, we have some more awesome games from Playstation Plus.  Plus members get free games every month with the Instant Game Collection.   I have a game library worth hundreds just through the PSPlus games I’ve collected.  If you’re not sure you’re going to like a game, add it to your library anyway.  When you’re bored, or looking for something new to play, you can try it out.

It may be childish, but I’m most excited about Tearaway.  I liked the first edition of this game for the PS Vita.  My biggest gripe was that as you played, the front facing camera was always on, and your face was displayed in the sun.  It reminded me of Teletubbies, with the baby face in the sun?  Looking up under your chin as you play a game isn’t flattering.  Best part of playing on the PS4 for me?  No camera needed!  I loved the interesting controls, since your character and the world around him is made of paper.  It reminds me a little of Paper Mario.

The other big game for the PS4 is Disc Jam.  This game just launched March 7th.  Plus members get to have it for free before everyone else gets their hands on it.  It kind of looks like digital ultimate frisbee for up to 4 players online or at home.  This doesn’t fit our usual criteria of co-op games, but I’m ready to give it a try.

For PS3 we have two free games this month.  Under Night: In Birth and Earth Defense Force 2025.  Under Night is a fun little fighter with 16 different characters to play.  EDF is one of the few M rated games Playstation has given out recently.  EDF 2025 is a sequel where you find that there were more aliens you missed in the first game.  You can play several different classes with a ton of different guns.  The description reminds me of a less crazy Borderlands, so I’m hoping it lives up to it.

For the Vita, we have two new games as well.  Lumo can be played on Vita or cross-played on PS4.  You play as an adorable little black mage, exploring a huge world that will definitely take you back to the golden age of gaming.  Thankfully, you can actually save the game when you want to and not just hope that your mom didn’t unplug your system.

The last game is Severed.  Severed is a game with a female main character.  The game has swipe based controls, which makes me wonder if I will ever play it.  I would play on my phone if I wanted to swipe around.  Most of the games I play on vita that have swipe controls feel very forced, like they’re just trying to integrate the touchpad for no reason.  The art style is very interesting, with simple lines and bright colors.

March’s Playstation Plus Instant Game Collection games are already live, and will be available until April 4th.  Be sure to add them to your library before they’re gone!
