April Games With Gold
Microsoft has announced their new games available as part of the Games With Gold program. One of last month’s games, Evolve, is still available if you missed it. Evolve is a really cool game you can read about in last month’s Games With Gold update.
Each month, Microsoft gives away a selection of free games for their Xbox One and their Xbox 360 systems to every person who purchases Xbox Live. Once you download the game, it is yours as long as you have a subscription. Forget to renew? That’s ok, your games will be available as soon as you rejoin. Including Evolve, there are three titles for the Xbox One and two titles for the 360.
Available Now
Ryse: Son of Rome (XB1)
Ryse was one of the original launch titles for the Xbox One. This was the game I spent the most time playing when I first got my Xbox at launch. Ryse does not have a very long storymode, but I found the missions very replayable. You play as a Roman soldier, with a score to settle for the death of your family.
Darksiders (xb360)
Darksiders is a hack and slash that started a franchise. The game is definitely a little dated. You play as one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, leaving death and dismemberment in your path as the great Endwar starts. It is a good game, but Darksiders II has better gameplay.
Available Starting April 16th
Telltale’s The WAlking Dead Season 2 (xb1)
#MyClementine
Telltale Games hit a surprise home run with their first season of the Walking Dead. This is absolutely one of my favorite games of all time. I’m super excited to see more people get to play it. It’s just in time to get caught up so you can start Season Three. Season Two returned with Clementine, the little girl you spent the first game trying to save, as the main character. Telltale’s gameplay is unique compared to almost any other game I’ve ever played. The game is very cinematic. You make decisions through the game that will affect how people view and respond to you. Some choices will give you advantages, some will get people killed. There are a few places in the game where you have to have some quick reactions, so don’t set the controller down!
assassin’s creed reveltaions (xb360)
I think Assassin’s Creed Revelations is a great game, but an odd choice for the free game program. This is the fourth in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and the third in the Ezio trilogy. The game launched way back in 2011, so don’t judge it too harshly. Assassin’s Creed is known for its storylines, and the really cool acrobatics you can do if there happens to be a handy haystack around.
That’s the end of this month’s Games with Gold update. Be sure to play Walking Dead Season 2 if you haven’t. I will be playing Season 3 ASAP, and I’ll give you guys an update on that when it happens.
