Top 6 Reasons Why You Can’t Remove Your Wii U Yet

With the release of the Nintendo Switch, many gamers are finding space on their entertainment centers for a new console.  The Wii U did not have a huge number of games, but it was easy to miss some if you weren’t paying attention.  If you’re like me, you have a few hours of game play before you can retire that Wii U. Here are our top six reasons why you can’t put away your Wii U just yet.

6. Bayonetta 2

This hack and slash sequel lives up to its predecessor.  Bayonetta 2 was a Wii U Exclusive game not made by Nintendo.  It’s like you are playing John Wick.  You kick butt with your awesome kung-fu style moves as well as your pistols, swords, or other weapons when needed.  The gameplay is really smoothe.  This game gets bonus points for having an amazing main character that just happens to be a girl.

  1. Lego City Undercover

This is one of my favorite games, and it launched as a Wii U exclusive.  All of the Lego games are awesome (and I hope you sang that in your head too).  This game steps ahead of many of the other Lego titles because they had the freedom to create their own world.  It is very immersive and interactive.  There are hundreds of collectables in the game.  You play as a little lego police man who collects costumes so he can disguise himself in any situation.  If you didn’t get a chance to play this title yet, make sure you do before that Wii U is taken down.

    1. Super Mario 3D World

The first Mario game where you can be a cat, this title features a world where you can move in any direction.  It has some really inventive gameplay mechanics, including a really interesting shadow world mechanic.  The best thing they improved from Super Mario U is that you can

  1. Super Smash Brothers U

Smash Brothers makes its return for the Wii U, but the most unique thing about this version of the game is being able to level up your Amiibo.  It was also a huge improvement over the Wii, that you could play the game with Gamecube controllers once again.  I still have my Wavebirds, and this game gives me a chance to put that amazing controller back in my hands.  There is no Fire Emblem for the Wii U, but Smash Bros gives you your fill of amazing sword fighters from the series.

  1. Splatoon

You never knew you wanted a Nintendo shooter.  Seriously… we have all played multiplayer shooters with super serious story lines, or crazy unrealistic stories about aliens or mecha-Hitler or just other people who are just a little crazier than you, but none of us have played a shooter that is quite as family friendly as Splatoon.  I feel like this game takes me back to a time when everything is simpler.  I can run around and blast my friends, but it captures the magic of playing imaginary games with your neighborhood friends.  I don’t feel any of the pressure that I feel playing other online shooters.  You can also turn into a squid and swim through the ink to get to your enemies faster, or hide from them if you feel the need.

  1. Xenoblade Chronicles X

Xenoblade is a fantastic world that is a mix of machines and fantasy, kind of like what you would have seen in Final Fantasy X.  The world is huge, and the game has what feels like a million sub quests.  The Xenoblade series is often overlooked, but it is easy to pick up even if you haven’t played any of the other Xeno-saga before.  It is a giant, action RPG full of story and magic.
