March’s Games With Gold
Microsoft has announced Xbox’s Games with Gold for March. Each month, Microsoft gives away a selection of free games for their Xbox One and their Xbox 360 systems to every person who purchases Xbox Live. Once you download the game, it is yours as long as you have a subscription. Forget to renew? That’s ok, your games will be available as soon as you rejoin. This month, there are two titles for the Xbox One and one title for the 360.
Already Available
Layers of Fear (XB1)
Evolve Ultimate Edition (XB1)
Heavy Weapon (XB360)
My favorite game Microsoft gave away was a limited, two week giveaway of Borderlands 2. If you missed Borderlands, I definitely recommend picking it up. Borderlands 2 is a sequel to the surprise hit Borderlands by Gearbox and 2k, but you don’t need to have played the first one to jump right into Borderlands 2. You can play up to four player co-op online as well as local multiplayer. The max number of players depends on which system you are using. There are tons of unique guns. The world is full of crazy characters such as Scooter and Mad Moxxi. Looting your kills and gaining crazy skills as you level is what makes the Borderlands series so much fun.
I’m most excited to play Evolve. It is a great monster game, also released by 2k. The Ultimate Edition includes all of the DLC for the game including Hunting Season 1 and 2. The most unique thing about Evolve is that you can choose to play as a hunter, or as the monster. Hunters can team up in four player groups to kill a boss monster, either played by the AI or played by another player. The game is different every time you play, making it a much more realistic experience. One of the most fun things I have ever done in World of Warcraft is the quest when you get to play Illidan and try to wipe the raid that is trying to kill you. I’m excited to play the monster, even though I will probably get killed a lot.
That’s it for this month’s update on Xbox Live’s Games With Gold, we’ll be back next month with some more fun!
